AJ is a dedicated and experienced volleyball coach with over 13 years of high school coaching experience and a strong background as both a player and mentor.
A graduate of Newbury Park High School, AJ played four years as a middle blocker under longtime coach Jorge Ostrovsky, developing a strong foundation in competitive play and team leadership. After graduating, he returned to his alma mater, where he’s been coaching for 13 seasons. He also served as the head of the girl’s beach volleyball program for 5 years, helping launch and grow the program during its early CIF seasons.
As a club player, AJ competed for both Reef Volleyball Club and Spectrum VBC. He now coaches girls indoor volleyball at Reef, where he is known for his calm, thoughtful approach and emphasis on strong fundamentals, player development, and team culture.
In addition to coaching, AJ works full-time as a licensed contractor. His ability to balance a demanding career with his passion for volleyball speaks to his strong work ethic and deep commitment to mentoring young athletes.
With extensive experience across both indoor and beach volleyball and deep roots in the local community, AJ is a valued and respected member of the Reef coaching staff.
