AJ is a dedicated and respected volleyball coach with over 14 years of high school coaching experience and a strong background as both a player and mentor. Known for his leadership, consistency, and ability to connect with athletes, AJ is committed to developing confident, fundamentally sound players both on and off the court.
A graduate of Newbury Park High School, AJ was a four-year varsity middle blocker under legendary coach Jorge Ostrovsky, where he built a strong foundation in competitive volleyball and team leadership. Following his playing career, he returned to his alma mater, where he spent 13 seasons coaching within the boys volleyball program. During that time, he also served as Head Coach of the girls varsity beach volleyball program for five years, helping establish and grow the program during the early years of CIF competition.
In 2025, AJ joined the coaching staff at Agoura High School, where he serves as the Junior Varsity Boys Head Coach alongside Reef Founder and Club Director Brock Redmond, continuing his commitment to developing the next generation of athletes.
As a club athlete, AJ competed for both Reef Volleyball Club and Spectrum Volleyball Club, gaining valuable experience competing at a high level of club volleyball. Now entering his fifth season with Reef Volleyball Club, AJ coaches girls travel teams and is recognized for his calm leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to player development. His ability to teach the fundamentals of the game while building confidence and fostering a positive team culture has made him a trusted mentor for athletes of all skill levels.
Outside of volleyball, AJ is a licensed contractor and business owner. His ability to balance a successful career with his passion for coaching reflects the strong work ethic, dedication, and integrity he brings to every team he leads.
With extensive experience across both indoor and beach volleyball, deep roots in the local volleyball community, and a genuine passion for mentoring young athletes, AJ continues to make a lasting impact on the Reef Volleyball Club family.
