Players focus on proper technique and learning the flow of the game while participating in inter-club scrimmages and games against other Ventura County teams.

This program is perfect for athletes looking to improve their skills before advancing to travel teams or for those balancing multiple sports and commitments.

  • Games: All games and tournaments played within Ventura County

  • Focus: Strong emphasis on fundamentals to prepare players for higher competition levels (Regional, Select or National)

Skills We Teach

  • Serving

Serving is the first skill that initiates play and creates immediate scoring opportunities. We focus on proper mechanics, consistent tosses, and clean contact to develop serves with power, accuracy, and control. Athletes are taught to serve with purpose — aiming to pressure opponents and score points.

  • Passing

Passing is the foundation of every play and one of the most essential skills in the game. We focus on developing proper platform technique, footwork, and angle control to improve consistency and accuracy. Athletes learn how to keep the ball alive and deliver quality passes that set their team up for success.

  • Hitting

We train athletes to become confident and versatile attackers. Our focus includes arm swing mechanics, footwork, approach timing, and shot placement. Athletes learn to execute a variety of attacks with control and precision, adapting to different game situations and defenses.

  • Setting

Setting is a key part of running a successful offense. We teach athletes proper hand positioning, footwork, and body control to deliver consistent, accurate sets. Training focuses on tempo, location, and decision-making to create hittable balls and set up teammates to score in a variety of situations.

  • Blocking

Blocking is a key part of both team defense and transition offense. We teach players proper positioning, footwork, hand placement, timing, and eye work to read the hitter and effectively close the block. Athletes learn to take space, control deflections, and become a strong presence at the net.

  • Defense

Defense wins rallies and keeps your team in the game. We focus on positioning, footwork, reading hitters, and court awareness to keep the ball off the floor. Athletes learn how to anticipate attacks, cover space efficiently, and turn defensive plays into offensive opportunities.
